The
Workplace Conferencing Process
Workplace conferencing is a process based on restorative justice principles
for use in a wide range of workplace situations.
Types of situations:
:: Conflict between employees
:: Inappropriate behaviour of employees – bullying,
harassment or other abusive behaviours
:: Consumer complaints procedures
:: Training process in low-level conflict resolution tools
:: Consumer complaints facilitation services
:: EAP type situations where managers are having difficulty
monitoring progress or setting appropriate boundaries with employees with personal
problems affecting their work
Workplace
conferencing allows inappropriate behaviour to be confronted by focusing on
the effects on those involved including management.
It allows all parties to move on from the events and to participate in creating
positive solutions to prevent similar incidence reoccurring.
Culture shifts occur as a result that allow openness and honesty to become part
of acceptable workplace communication. The willingness of the organisation to
deal with tricky issues in a safe and proactive way further adds to confidence
of employees in positive change. Issues requiring structural change come from
those directly affected and therefore are bought into on the ground floor.
